Coastal Cottage
Fresh, beach vibes were the desired aesthetic for this coastal cottage, designed with an open plan indoor/outdoor living area in mind.
The project began with demolition of the existing living room, kitchen, bathroom, rear deck and vegetation. This made room for a split-level extension consisting of a new kitchen and open plan living area.
New internal walls were built in the front area of the house creating four bedrooms and a second bathroom. The front entry was re-positioned to open up into a wide hallway area, extending past the bedrooms and stepping down into the new living area.
The split-level design made provision for 3.3 metre high ceilings and a large open bookcase. Timber bi-fold doors were fitted to the rear wall, along with a concealed, retractable fly screen. These doors open up onto a spacious Alfresco area featuring hardwood decking and v-lined high ceiling soffit. The addition of a servery window allows for external kitchen access.
External landscaping including garden walls and a new driveway completed this project.
